The player begins a game already equipped with a little base that has barricades, turrets and mortars. In addition a new game mode, 'Defence', has been added. The first difference you'll notice in The Zombie Wars is the new graphic style: the backdrops have taken a step from a cartoonish look to a more realistic style. Like in the previous games, the player is required to take out increasingly large waves of enemies and raise a multiplier counter that unlocks new weapons and features. Once again the player takes control of Jon Bambo, a box-shaped Rambo-like character taking out endless waves of zombies (and this time also other supernatural creatures).
